This is a lovely reflection, David. Thank you for sharing! I was actually just thinking today, as I told my toddler stories about the magical flowers and trees we passed, how much more I love and value the landscape around me when it becomes infused with 'folklore.'
It’s true. A few years back I read an article about students in the UK learning about magpies. Those only told scientific facts didn’t care too much about them. Those also told folk legends about them wanted to see greater conservation efforts.
